BREAKING: Jubilation as FG pays N77k allowance to NYSC members for first time

  There is massive jubilation as the Federal Government paid the newly increased N77,000 monthly allowance to members of Natioanal Youth Service Corps (NYSC) nationwide. This comes days after NYSC director general, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu announced that corps members across Nigeria will receive a the new N77,000 allowance starting from March 2025. Many of the corps members on Wednesday, March 26, took to social media to share screenshots of their payments. Usman Lilussy on Facebook posted; “Alhamdulillah 🙏 77k don land.   The co-Ceo of Samsung Electronics, Han Jong-hee d!ed of a heart attack on Tuesday, March 25, at the age of 63. Han, who was also a board member, passed away at a hospital on Tuesday while being treated for cardiac arrest, a company spokesperson said. Samsung has not yet decided on a successor, the spokesperson added. “He died from cardiac arrest today,” a Samsung spokesperson said, adding that Han was survived by his wife and three children. Han became chief executive officer of South Korea's biggest company in 2022 and was also in charge of its consumer electronics and mobile devices division. Han is credited with boosting the South Korean tech giant’s television business on the global stage. UNIOSUN shuts down as five students die in horrific motor accident

  The management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has announced the closure of the school after five students lost thier lives in an horrific motor accident. The accident involving a luxurious bus travelling from Ibadan and an 18-passenger bus from Osogbo had a head-on collision resulting in multiple fatalities including the five UNIOSUN students. It was gathered that five other persons were killed in the unfortunate incident which occurred at Balogun Area of Ikire on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Makinde makes fresh appointments into tertiary institutions, pilgrims’ welfare boards

  Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has made new appointments to the boards of three tertiary institutions in the state. The governor also approved the appointment of nine part-time members to the Oyo State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board (Christian Wing). The appointments were announced in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi. Professor Ayodeji Omole has been reappointed as the Chairman of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Governing Council, while Mrs. Titilayomi Ahmadu, Mr. Idowu Olukunle Adeosun, Mr. Jelili Bamidele Busari, and Dr. Teslim Adediran have been appointed as members of the council.   Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu has announced that all corps members would be credited with their new monthly allowance of N77,000 effective from March, 2025. Brig.-Gen. Nafiu said the Scheme and Federal Government are responsive to corps members’ welfare and would continue to ensure that their well-being was accorded maximum priority at all times. The NYSC D-G disclosed this on Thursday while interacting with corps members in Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.
